Ceremonial Matcha 40g

Matcha Tea originates from Japan, renowned worldwide for its exceptional green tea and central role in the Japanese tea ceremony. Our green tea leaves are sourced from the mountainous region of Honyama. The rugged terrain in this area creates significant temperature variations and misty conditions. The mist reduces the amount of sunlight the tea plants receive, allowing them to develop the subtle umami flavor. The tea leaves from this region are celebrated for their rich taste and deep emerald green hue. The finest leaves are carefully hand-picked, then traditionally steamed and dried. Finally, they are ground into velvety powder using traditional stone mills. It's no wonder that the Japanese Emperor (shogun) Ieyasu Tokugawa, during his reign, eagerly enjoyed the same Matcha Tea that we now offer you.

Measure two grams of powder and place it in a bowl. Optionally, sift it.

Add some hot (but not boiling!) water and vigorously whisk the mixture with your wrist (not your elbow!) using the Matcha Whisk while holding the bowl with your other hand. Try to whisk as quickly as possible.

Do NOT whisk the mixture in a circular motion, but back and forth, or possibly in a W or zigzag pattern. You should hear the mixture splashing as you add air to the tea, creating a frothy and smooth texture.

Finally, you can add milk to the Matcha mix, for example, to create your favorite beverage.
